Closed testing for your first Google Play release
We've been through Google's testing requirement with our own apps. Now we help other independent developers get through it — with real people using your app every day and telling you honestly what they think.
Google Play requirement
Applies to personal developer accounts created after November 13, 2023, before they can apply for production access. Google's help article
Process
How it works
-
1
You prepare a closed test
Upload a build to a Closed testing track in Play Console, add our testers' Google accounts (we send you the list) and share the web opt-in link with us.
-
2
Testers opt in and install
We enroll more than the required 12 testers, so a single drop-out doesn't restart the 14-day count.
-
3
14 days of daily use
Testers open your app on different phones and Android versions, stay opted in for the whole period and report bugs and impressions.
-
4
Feedback report
You get a summary of issues found, devices used and suggestions — useful both for your app and for the production access form.
-
5
Apply for production
We help you prepare answers about your testing and the changes you made. Google reviews the request and makes the final decision.
What you get
- More than 12 testers opted in for the full 14 days
- Daily app usage on a range of real Android devices
- Bug reports and honest UX feedback during the test
- A final report you can use in the production access form
- Help with the store listing and a privacy policy page if you need one
- Communication in English or Russian
What we need from you
- A working build uploaded to a closed testing track
- Our testers' emails added to the track's tester list
- The web opt-in link (looks like
play.google.com/apps/testing/…) - A short description of what to test and how
- A contact for questions during the test
